Layouts attending
White Meadow Quarry
By Ray Taylor and Anna Bass. This very popular exhibition layout depicts the fictional White Meadow Quarry, somewhere in the South of England. The railway serves a chalk quarry as well a a small village. The chalk quarry is coming to the end of its life and is very run-down – almost derelict. A main line station sees fairly regular rail traffic, while the branch line brings materials into and out of the chalk quarry as needed. The quarry workers keep the local pub going although today it’s doing a roaring trade because there’s a Bus Rally taking place on the common near the station.
Whitmoor
By the Astolat Model Railway Club. Whitmoor is a freelance N gauge layout representing a double main line through station with additional terminal platforms at one end of the station which are intended for branchline traffic and surburban traffic to the “big city”. The track plan includes a goods yard and locomotive depot and fully automatic turntable.
Oak Grove Central
A modern freelance layout set in central England, running stock from the Regional Railway and Trams.
Berkshire Area Group Modular Layout
The club has a large continuous 4 track mainline layout made up of various modules made to a common standard which enables them to be joined together. The layout is used at club running days and occasionally at exhibitions.
Castle Hill
By Brian Lee. A small township dominated by a spectacular castle
Leigh St George
Leigh St George is a popular exhibition layout representing a fictitious market town in the Midlands set between 1990 and 1996.
Tremierten
Tremierten (see if you can work out the anagram) belongs to one of our members, Alex, and is a beautiful depiction of a branch line terminus set in Cornwall. Running eras can be either GWR or British Railways.
Veja Megrtra
A slice of Switzerland with grandiose mountains and forested landscapes.
Wokingham
The Berkshire Area Group will present Wokingham, an ambitious work-in-progress with the aim of accurately depicting Wokingham station. The chosen era is from post-war to no later than 1973 when the original Station building was demolished. This will give a wide public interest as it is well within residents’ memory and allows the running of old-style steam and modern electric/diesel trains to maximize viewing appeal
Paddock Hill
Owned by the Berkshire Area Group, Paddock Hill is set in the West Midlands; the present station dates from the 1960s when the original station and track bed gave way to the new ring road. A land-fill site nearby receives spoil and household waste carried in “binliner” trains.
We aim to run stock from the 60’s to the present date, allowing a good range of stock to be viewed. We run an eclectic mix of stock owned by club members that might have visited the area.
